Reynolds Courts and Media Law Journal

Issues now available online; see below.

The Reynolds Courts & Media Law Journal, a new publication of the Donald W. Reynolds National Center for Courts and Media, focuses on the interaction between the courts and the media, including the conflicting values of the First Amendment right to freedom of the press and the Sixth Amendment right to fair trials.

The Journal is just one step in the transformation of the Reynolds Center for Courts and Media, which launched in 2001 as a means to manage conflicts between the right to a free press and the right to a fair trial. Initially the Center focused on a large, national conference and a training session for news reporters on covering the courts.
Our new approach is to address these issues on a more consistent basis, by holding regional conferences exploring the cutting-edge legal issues at the heart of the court-media relationship, and to capture and explore these questions in a scholarly law journal.

Each issue of the Reynolds Courts & Media Law Journal contains a compelling and rigorous look of these questions. We encourage analysis from the perspective of both the courts – including the judges, lawyers and court officials who work in our courts every day – and the journalists who cover them.

We invite you to join us in our ongoing discussion of these and other important issues.
